Half of UK workers use GenAI with no formal training

50% of UK workers are using GenAI with no formal training, and 65% feel their leadership talks about the tech without truly understanding it.

I was a little taken aback by these findings presented at the launch of Deloitte's GenAI Workforce Survey in Cambridge this week. This lack of training is a massive missed opportunity, especially given that over half of the workforce says proper training would get them using the tech much more often. To fix this, companies need to invest in GenAI learning. Just as importantly, leaders need to get up to speed themselves; when nearly two-thirds of employees feel management doesn't truly understand the technology they are talking about, it is clear that execs need to build their own digital fluency before they can inspire anyone else.

I always try to avoid adding to the noise and scaremongering surrounding AI, and it's certainly not too late for organisations to begin their AI journey, but that window is starting to close.
